The United States of America is a collection of 50 states which cover a large area from Alaska in the Pacific Northwest to Florida in the Caribbean southeast, so it’s unlikely you’ll be able to see everything. But if you hire a car in the US you’ll certainly be able see a lot, wherever you are. It’s a country designed around cars, so driving between the sights is usually easy. America has every type of attraction, from the natural wonders of the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountains to the biggest theme parks, most exciting cities and most famous landmarks.
It’s one mile deep, 277 miles long and one of the world’s most spectacular natural sights - that’s why Arizona’s Grand Canyon is one of USA’s top attractions. But if you hire a car in the United States, you may choose to visit many others areas and attractions, like Niagara Falls, The Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone National Park and Hawaii’s volcanoes. Maybe cities are more your thing. Well, America has some of the biggest and most thrilling too, with New York and LA topping the bill. And what about memorable landmarks? From the Golden Gate Bridge to Mount Rushmore, you’ll find world-class sights all over America.
Driving in America is surprisingly safe and easy for most visitors. You drive on the right but roads are generally good quality, smooth, wide and well signposted. Away from the major cities, roads are often straight and quiet. Cars may be bigger but drivers are generally relaxed and considerate. Note that different states may have small variations on driving rules but in the majority of places there are few surprises. You are usually allowed to turn right at a red light and that if a yellow school bus has its red lights flashing you must stop. You also have to stop to let an emergency vehicle pass.
