Everything you need to know about Five Star

We like to think of Five Star as a big thank you to Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Members who choose to book with us time and time again.

All you need to do is rent a vehicle with us 7 times or more within a calendar year and we’ll automatically upgrade your member status to Five Star. You’ll then be entitled to enjoy valuable benefits and privileges that include:

• A complimentary upgrade to the next car class  – subject to vehicle availability.
• The opportunity to earn points with participating airline-operated frequent traveller programmes.
• A Reward Rental Day voucher after every 10 qualifying rentals.
• Continued access to exclusive offers, special events and the chance to win prizes via regular email updates. (Don’t worry. You won’t need to opt in again.)
• Bypassing pick-up and drop-off queues at key Hertz service locations.
• Continued access to all of the time and money saving benefits you already love about Hertz Gold Plus Rewards such as a 25% discount on child safety seats and no charge for an additional driver travelling with a member in participating locations in Europe

Qualifying for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards - Five Star

Our Five Star membership criteria is fairly straightforward. Here it is:

• You need to be a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member with 7 to 19 Hertz vehicle rentals to your name within a calendar year.
• Customers who have spent US$2,400 to US$3,999 within a calendar year also qualify for Five Star status.
• Five Star members retain their status until the end of the following year. For example, if you’re awarded Five Star status in June 2018 your entitlement to member benefits is valid until the end of 2019.

Keeping track of the total number of rentals you’ve made is easy. Simply log in to the Hertz website, select My Account and then open the Rewards Account Activity section.

Complimentary upgrades to the next car class

As long as we have the next car class vehicle available, Five Star members receive a complimentary upgrade on every rental booking they make.

Here’s a handy list of the participating Hertz locations:

•United States of America •Canada •European airports: Brussels, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Helsinki, Oslo, Rovaniemi, Turku, Paris Orly, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, Lyon, Bordeaux, Athens, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Dublin, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Amsterdam, Vienna, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Stockholm, Goteborg, Geneva and Zurich.

Important –To avoid disappointment, and to give our staff enough time to organise your free upgrade – please ensure that you make your reservation at least 2-hours in advance of your desired pick-up time. Please note that free upgrades don’t apply to rental periods longer than 30 days.

What to expect

Subject to availability, if you’ve reserved a Compact car we’ll upgrade you to a Full-Size car. For instance, a Compact 4-door rental will be upgraded to a Full-Size 4-door car. Your complimentary upgrade is to the next car class only. Minivans, SUVs and vehicles featured in Hertz Collections are not included in this offer.

Earning points with partner programmes

Five Star members have the opportunity to put the value of their Hertz rental activity towards points or miles with their favourite frequent traveller programme.

Simply log in to the Hertz website and update your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star membership profile with your choice of participating partner programme.

Receive a Reward Rental Day voucher

As a Five Star member, you’ll receive a Reward Rental Day voucher after every 10 rentals during a 12-month period. The only qualifying criteria is that you use your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards number when you make each reservation.

Receive regular emails featuring exclusive offers

If you’ve already opted-in to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards marketing materials and special offers by email, this arrangement will continue when your status is upgraded to Five Star.

If you haven’t opted-in, please log in to your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards profile online and carry out the following simple steps:

• Edit the Membership Details section in My Profile.
• Under Privacy Elections, select ‘Yes’ for Your Email.
• Then click on the Update button to save your changes.

Terms and Conditions

All Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Membership and Rental Terms and Conditions apply. We also reserve the right to change, limit or modify the Five Star rewards programme at any time. Membership and qualification for Five Star depend on your country of residency. The programme may be terminated by Hertz after members have received 6 months’ notice.
